These terms are commonly used in the printing industry. Ticks are small lines or marks placed on your document to indicate where the print should be trimmed, ensuring the final product has clean, finished edges. They are typically positioned in the corners of the design.
Bleeds refers to the extended area beyond the edge of the page where your graphics or background colour continue, allowing them to reach the very edge of the printed piece. This additional space compensates for the limitations of the printing process, which can’t accurately print right up to the edge of the paper. Without bleeds, you may end up with a small white margin around the trimmed edges of your design.
If we’re not happy with the final product, it won’t go out the door. We’ll either reprint it or talk to you about why it’s not working. Either way, we’ll keep you in the loop.
Digital printing is for low quantity print work (generally less than 1000 units) and streamlines the production process by allowing direct transition from a computer file to the printer, eliminating the necessity for plates and films. Thi enables us to provide a fast lead time. It does have it limitations regards colour and finishes but will produce an excellent result at a lower cost.
Lithographic or ‘litho’ printing is for longer run print work (generally 1000 upwards) and involves coating a plate to make ink adhere only to dry areas. The inked image is then offset onto a rubber blanket, leaving its impression on the paper.

PDF please with ticks marked and 3-5mm bleed, all fonts turned to outlines and images embedded. A PDF is the best format for hi quality print production. Jpegs, PNG’s, Word files etc, will all produce an inferior quality print.
Uncoated stock paper is relatively porous and cost-effective, commonly employed for applications such as newspaper printing and basic black-and-white copying. In contrast, coated stock is crafted from higher-quality paper with a smooth, glossy finish, ideal for producing sharp text and vibrant colors. While it offers superior print quality, it typically comes at a higher cost.
